Getting set up

What you need

Striped uses three devices together: an iPhone with iOS 17 or later in your front pocket, motion-capable AirPods, and an Apple Watch with watchOS 10 or later on your lead wrist. You sign in with Apple to use Striped.

AirPods

Connect your AirPods to your iPhone as you normally would and put them in before you start. The Practice screen shows whether they are connected and streaming motion. Head movement comes from AirPods or Beats with motion sensors.

Apple Watch

Install Striped on your Apple Watch from the App Store on the watch, or from the Watch app on your iPhone, then open it on the watch. On iPhone, Profile Devices shows whether your watch is ready and checks again on its own.

Keep iPhone and Apple Watch on the same version

Striped on iPhone and Striped on Apple Watch have to be the same version to share wrist data. If they don’t match, the app tells you which one needs updating.

  • To update the watch app, open the App Store on Apple Watch, or open the Watch app on iPhone and go to Striped.
  • To update the iPhone app, open the App Store on iPhone.

Permissions

iOS asks for each permission the first time Striped needs it. If you said no, you can change it later.

Motion & Fitness

Striped reads iPhone and AirPods motion to analyze your swing. Head tracking needs Fitness Tracking: Settings Privacy & Security Motion & Fitness.

Health, for Apple Watch

While you record, the watch app runs a golf workout session so Apple Watch can capture wrist motion in full detail. Striped doesn’t read your Health data. To allow it after saying no, open Health on iPhone, tap your profile, then Apps Striped Turn On All.

Bluetooth

Live wrist feedback travels from Apple Watch to iPhone over Bluetooth. On the watch: Settings Privacy & Security Bluetooth Striped.

Microphone, for spoken labels

Spoken shot labels are off until you turn them on. Striped then listens for words like “seven iron” to tag a swing, and recognizes them on your iPhone.

Subscriptions

Manage or cancel your subscription

Your Striped subscription is billed by Apple, so you manage it in your Apple account. On iPhone, open Settings, tap your name, then Subscriptions, and choose Striped. Apple explains each step in Cancel a subscription from Apple.

Deleting your Striped account doesn’t cancel a subscription; cancel it in Settings as well.

Restore purchases

If your subscription doesn’t show up on a new or restored iPhone, sign in to Striped with Apple, then go to Profile Account & Backup Membership Restore purchases.

The Terms of Use cover billing and renewals.

Your account and data

Delete your account

Go to Profile Account & Backup Your data Delete cloud account. You confirm with Sign in with Apple, then tap Delete account. This permanently erases your cloud account and private backups from Striped’s servers. Recordings on your iPhone are not deleted.

What happens to each kind of data, including anything you shared with Striped Lab, is set out in Data retention and deletion in the privacy policy.
